So—Where in the World is Camp Oliver?
Camp Oliver, located in Descanso, California, San Diego County, is a year round 20 acre non-denominational non-profit camp that has been operated by the Sisters of Social Service since 1949. It is a place where children of all ages learn leadership, interpersonal skills, appreciation and respect for nature, and grow toward maturity in a relaxed and safe environment. www.campoliver.com
And the Social Service Auxiliary Does What…?
The Social Service Auxiliary, the sponsoring organization for 58 years, and underwriters have made it possible for over 10,000 children to spend a week at camp. The goal is to ensure that children from disadvantaged low income families are never turned away. That is the campership (camp scholarship) fund in action!
The Social Service Auxiliary also works year round to provide funds to maintain and upgrade existing Camp Oliver facilities. As Camp Oliver has aged, it is now time for some renewal projects. Suggestions of business or building suppliers that may help with the Camp Oliver Wish List are most welcome. Send suggestions to director@wineandroses.net.
And the San Diego International Wine Competition is…?
The San Diego International Wine Competition (SDIWC) www.sdiwc.com is recognized as one of the top wine competitions in the country with over 1800 American and international entries. The wines can be purchased at a discount at the Wine and Roses Charity Wine Tasting event. If you are a Vineyard donor, then you may select for purchase award winning wines prior to the event.
And the Outcome is…
The annual Wine and Roses Charity Wine Tasting Event! A winner for Camp Oliver and some very happy campers. If you cannot attend, Wine and Roses loves donations, large or small, for Camp Oliver and the children.
